Zoho Launches Arattai to Challenge WhatsApp in India

Chennai-based Zoho Corporation, founded in 1996 by Sridhar Vembu and Tony Thomas, has launched Arattai, an Indian instant messaging app. Arattai aims to challenge WhatsApp's dominance, with a focus on openness, interoperability, and user trust. Meanwhile, Patharpunj in Maharashtra has emerged as India's new 'Rain Capital', facing both opportunities and challenges due to excessive rainfall.

Arattai, developed by Zoho, a leading enterprise software company, has entered the competitive instant messaging market. With 500 million users, WhatsApp is the dominant player in India. To succeed, Arattai must match or exceed its features and prioritize user concerns such as privacy and data security. The company may also consider renaming Arattai for wider recognition.

Patharpunj, once a distressed village, has transformed into India's new 'Rain Capital' due to heavy rainfall. The state should tap its tourism potential to alleviate villagers' distress. However, excess rainfall also poses challenges. The state plans to divert excess water to the parched Marathwada region. Food adulteration, a persistent issue, may worsen during festivals. The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) faces resistance in curbing these dishonest acts.
