The Architecture MasterPrize (AMP) Announces 2023 Winners
The Architecture MasterPrize (AMP) has announced the winners of its 2023 Awards, recognising exceptional projects from around the globe. The mission of the AMP is to advance the appreciation of quality architectural design worldwide, and this year's winners certainly embody that mission.
The project "Mancave" by an unspecified architectural firm has taken top honours, winning in two categories: Commercial Interior and Hospitality Interior. Additionally, "Mancave" received an Honorable Mention, though the specific category for this mention is not listed.
Other notable winners include SuperHub Meerstad by De Zwarte Hond, which won in Green Architecture. IBUKU was named the Architectural Firm of the Year, while Raul Sanchez Architects was named the Interior Design Firm of the Year.
In the Commercial Architecture category, both LEGO® Campus by C.F. Møller Architects and HEM Restaurant by Tadao Ando took home awards. The Urban Design of the Year award went to DJI Sky City by W&B Design International Pty. Ltd., and Ferrocarril de Cuernavaca 780 by HEMAA won in Institutional Architecture.
The Product Design of the Year award was presented to Unburnt Circular Tile by loqa, and the Interior Design of the Year award was given to 'Prime Seafood Palace' by Omar Gandhi Architects.
This year's Architectural Design of the Year was a tie between 'Sluishuis' by Barcode Architects and BIG-Bjarke Ingels Group, and 'New Temple Complex' by James Gorst Architects.
The winners include architects, designers, and visionaries who have contributed significantly to their fields. The jury panel for the AMP Awards is led by Valerie Schweitzer and consists of top designers, architects, curators, and academics.
The winners of the 2023 AMP Awards will be honoured together with the 2024 winners at the AMP Awards ceremony, which will return to the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao in November 2024. The full list of 2023 AMP winners and their projects can be viewed on the AMP website.
Certain entries have attained the 'Best of Best' title by advancing to the final round of voting across all categories, including 55 Hudson Yards by Kohn Pedersen Fox Associates in Commercial Architecture and National Pavilion by Fernanda Ahumada + FR-EE in Cultural Architecture.
The awards are given to visionaries who demonstrate creativity, sustainability, and innovative architectural practices. The AMP Awards ceremony will honour exceptional projects that contribute to environmental sustainability and human well-being.
In addition to the architectural awards, Victor Romero was named the Interior Photographer of the Year, and Deed Studio.uae was named the Exterior Photographer of the Year. SOM Store X D415 by D415 won the Retail Interior award.
The 2024 AMP Awards ceremony plans are already underway, and we look forward to seeing the innovative and inspiring projects that will be recognised in the coming year.
