Website update on the Foss Fairy Trail

The Foss Fairy Trail is gearing up for an enchanting digital experience as they reveal plans for a major website update. The dedicated committee has been working closely with a website designer to ensure that the updates reflect the heart and soul of the trail, bringing the magic of the woods to life online.

At the heart of this transformation is the embrace of Full Site Editing (FSE) in WordPress. This modern site-building approach allows for the visual design and editing of an entire website, including headers, footers, templates, and more, using the block editor interface. Unlike traditional editing methods, FSE lets site editors build and customize nearly every part of their website without the need for custom code or theme file modifications.

The new website update for thefossfairytrail.com includes a brand-new fairy blog, featuring six unique fairy tales for launch, each introducing a fairy from the trail. Additional fairy stories will be added to the blog as part of the website update. Fairy house photos will also be uploaded to bring the trail to life online.

The updated design of the website is mobile-friendly and reflects the magic of the woods, with a nature-inspired aesthetic. The new homepage is designed to be welcoming and give visitors a feel for the magic of the trail. Navigation will be clearer, making it easier for visitors to find trail details, events, and fairy stories.

The learning curve for Full Site Editing (FSE) is steep, even for someone with a solid technical background. However, the website designer, despite initial frustration with the documentation, has found the experience worthwhile. The project aims to celebrate the magic of the Foss Fairy Trail with the whole community.

Though the website update is not yet complete, with several pages still to be made and filled with content, final tweaks and testing are being done to ensure the site is as magical as possible before launch. The finished website will be launched soon at thefossfairytrail.com.
