Water-based healer character Wuyang debuts in Overwatch 2, potentially disrupting the season 18 metagame due to his healing capabilities and crowd control abilities.

In the ever-evolving world of Overwatch 2, a new character is set to make a splash – Wuyang, a Chinese support hero with water-based abilities.

Wuyang wields the Xuanwu Staff, a versatile tool that allows him to deal damage, heal teammates, and provide mobility and utility through his water-themed abilities.

His primary fire, the Xuanwu Staff, fires a controllable damaging water orb. By holding the fire button, players can direct and empower its explosion for precise aiming. His secondary fire, Restorative Stream, places a passive healing stream on an ally, providing continuous healing at the cost of a healing resource.

One of Wuyang's most powerful abilities is Guardian Wave, which sends a wave of water forward, boosting the healing received by allies, knocking enemies back, and healing Wuyang instantly by 80 health. It also restores 33% of his healing charge rate, enabling faster healing bursts. Rushing Torrent, another ability, allows Wuyang to ride a wave of water for 4 seconds, granting a 50% movement speed boost and a 4-meter jump height increase, useful for both mobility and positioning.

Wuyang's Ultimate, Tidal Blast, protects an ally or himself with water that detonates after a short delay, knocking down enemies nearby and providing a large burst of healing to the protected ally.

Wuyang's playstyle is versatile, combining healing, disruption, and mobility. He excels as a support hero with a hybrid playstyle that is centred around his water-themed abilities.

Players can try out Wuyang during a limited trial from August 14 to 18. Wuyang will officially launch with Season 18 on Aug. 26, 2025. Overwatch 2 is currently available on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Windows PC (Steam and Xbox PC), PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch.
