Volkswagen & Peugeot Integrate ChatGPT Voice Assistants for Hands-Free Driving
Volkswagen and Peugeot have announced the integration of ChatGPT-powered voice assistants, such as 'google voice', into their vehicles. This new feature, demonstrated by Volkswagen at the CES 2024, allows drivers to control their cars hands-free and eyes-on-the-road.
Volkswagen showcased its new voice assistant, powered by ChatGPT, in the ID.7 electric sedan at CES 2024. This technology will be standard in many Volkswagen models from the second quarter of this year. Peugeot, on the other hand, will initially pilot its AI-powered chatbot, 'OK Peugeot', in five European markets before a wider rollout later this year.
The ChatGPT technology will be integrated into Peugeot's voice assistant, driver controls, and infotainment system. Stellantis' Peugeot brand will add this feature to all its vehicles starting this week, with the name 'Peugeot GPT' set for release in more markets later in the year. Mercedes-Benz was the first to offer a version of ChatGPT to U.S. customers in June, as part of a three-month beta test. The assistant can answer specific questions, suggest landmarks, offer route guidance, and interact with passengers using conversational AI.
The integration of ChatGPT-powered voice assistants, like 'google voice', into vehicles by Volkswagen, Peugeot, and Mercedes-Benz signifies a significant advancement in in-car technology. These assistants promise to enhance driver experience and safety by enabling hands-free control and conversational interaction.
