Next week, from October 15 to 18, the Japan Mobility Show Bizweek 2024 will take place at Makuhari Messe in Chiba. One of the exhibitors at this year's event is Vectrix Japan, a global company showcasing the I-Cargo, a new commercial electric vehicle (EV) that promises to revolutionize the compact EV market.

Last year, Akio Toyoda, then-Chairman of the Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association (JAMA), spoke about launching the startup support initiative at the Japan Mobility Show. This year, Vectrix Japan is set to make its mark, with Fumiaki Yamagishi, the company's Representative Director, expressing his ambition to help tackle Japan's 2024 logistics problem with the I-Cargo.

The I-Cargo is neither a car nor a motorbike, but a new mobility category that combines the best attributes of light vans and three-wheeled scooters. It is designed to carry heavier loads than a typical three-wheeled scooter, up to 100 kg, and its body does not tilt during driving and turning. This makes it ideal for last-mile delivery and logistics, but it is also envisioned for constructing, maintaining, and inspecting infrastructure.

Vectrix Japan has entrusted the manufacturing and quality control of the I-Cargo to Taiwan's Yulon Motor, a company with advanced technical capabilities and involvement in the production of Japanese cars. This partnership is part of the Partnerships in Future Mobility initiative, which aims to foster collaborative innovation by pairing startups with established industry players.

Vectrix Japan is not limiting its offerings to the I-Cargo. The company also plans to unveil 3 new three-wheeled EV motorbikes, 2 EV scooter models, and a maxi scooter in the coming years. This expansion demonstrates Vectrix Japan's commitment to becoming a leader in small mobility solutions that are part of everyday life.

The company prioritizes delivering comprehensive after-sales support and a stable parts supply network to instill confidence in Japanese users. Vectrix Japan also aims to solve various social issues with the I-Cargo, a new type of commercial EV that combines the advantages of both cars and motorcycles.

The Japan Mobility Show 2024 will feature booths by 150 startups and 58 established companies, presenting business challenges and potential solutions. The event serves as a platform for various mobility-related companies to come together and create Japan's future.

Vectrix Japan's participation in the Japan Mobility Show is a testament to the importance of startups in shaping the future of mobility. By showcasing their innovations and forming strategic partnerships, startups like Vectrix Japan are driving the transition towards sustainable and intelligent transportation systems.
