Uzbek Man Arrested in Russia on Terrorism Financing Suspects

Uzbek national Yevgeny Tsoy has been arrested in Russia on suspicion of financing terrorism. The arrest follows an investigation linking Tsoy to a 'Revolution' website settlement account used in 2022.

Tsoy's residence was searched, and his mobile phone was examined as part of the investigation. Requests were sent to relevant agencies to gather more information. The suspect is believed to have ties to Vyacheslav Malcev, a Russian political activist recognized as a foreign agent in Russia. Malcev is known for founding the extremist organization 'Artpodgotovka' in 2013, which was later banned by the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation as extremist and terrorist.

In 2017, 'Artpodgotovka' planned to set fire to administrative buildings and attack police on National Unity Day. The 'Revolution' Telegram channel, run by Malcev, is believed to be connected to these plans. Tsoy was detained on August 5 and placed in a pre-trial detention center while the investigation continues.

Yevgeny Tsoy's arrest highlights the ongoing efforts to combat terrorism in Russia. The investigation into his alleged involvement with the banned 'Artpodgotovka' organization and the 'Revolution' website suggests a coordinated effort to disrupt extremist activities. The case remains under investigation.
