Update for Monster Hunter Wilds adds more to endgame content; Capcom promises improvements to address Steam review concerns about optimization and aims to enhance overall game enjoyment.
Monster Hunter Wilds Ver. 1.021 Update Introduces Major Improvements
August 13, 2025, marked a significant milestone for the action RPG, Monster Hunter Wilds, as Capcom rolled out the Ver. 1.021 update. This patch, aimed at expanding endgame content and addressing ongoing performance and stability issues, particularly on Steam, has been highly anticipated by players since February.
Key improvements and changes include:
New Endgame Content
- The update introduces a new quest difficulty tier for veteran players, featuring stronger monsters possibly at 9 or 10 stars, as well as tempered and potentially Apex or Frenzied variants.
- Endgame content expands with the inclusion of 9-star monsters, tempering versions beginning at Hunter Rank 100, and a new rewards system offering talismans with randomly assigned bonuses, including weapon skills.
Talisman System Overhaul
- Talismans now drop with random skill combinations from high-level quests instead of being crafted, enabling deeper weapon and build customization.
Weapon Balance Adjustments
- Nearly all weapons received balance changes, with significant buffs to previously weaker weapons such as the lance, improving counterattack moves and elemental damage.
Performance and Stability Fixes (Primarily PC/Steam Focus)
- The update addresses numerous bugs and crashes leading to game instability, including fixes for crashes caused by player actions and gesture emotes.
- Capcom is committed to ongoing CPU and GPU load optimization, with plans for more substantial improvements in Title Updates 3 and 4.
Quality of Life and Other Adjustments
- The update includes minor improvements and fixes such as text box glitches and network issue solutions.
- The Festival of Accord: Flamefete event has been extended by one week to allow more time for rewards.
Capcom issued an apology for the delayed fixes, acknowledging player frustration, and emphasized their commitment to improving the overall gaming experience through these updates. The Ver. 1.021 update is a substantial patch that expands endgame content, reworks key systems like Talismans, balances weapons extensively, and addresses many stability and bug issues affecting PC players, especially on Steam, as part of Capcom’s ongoing effort to improve game performance and player satisfaction.
