UK EV Grant Scheme Expands to Include More Manufacturers

The UK government's electric vehicle (EV) grant scheme has expanded. Besides Citroën, other car manufacturers now approved include Nissan, BMW, Hyundai, Kia, Volkswagen, Tesla, and Renault. All eligible cars qualify for a £1,500 'Band 2' grant.

The scheme's expansion brings in newly eligible models from various manufacturers. Nissan's Micra and Ariya, Renault's 4 E-Tech, 5 E-Tech, Megane E-Tech, and Scenic E-Tech, along with Vauxhall's Corsa Electric, Combo Life Electric, Astra Electric, Mokka Electric, Frontera Electric, and Grandland Electric are now included. Transport Secretary Heidi Alexander believes this makes it easier and cheaper for families to switch to electric cars.

Managing directors of Nissan, Renault, and Vauxhall have welcomed the scheme, expressing their support for the Electric Car Grant. Previously announced Citroën models also qualify for the scheme.

The UK government's EV grant scheme has broadened its scope, now covering a wide range of car models from different manufacturers. This move aims to encourage more families to adopt electric cars, contributing to the country's green transportation goals.
