Toyota Announces New Battery-Electric Vehicle Production in Europe

Toyota Motor Europe is set to produce a new battery-electric vehicle (BEV) in Europe, marking a significant step in the company's strategy to contribute to a more sustainable European market.

The production of the new BEV will take place at Toyota's plant in Kolin, Czech Republic. The plant, currently manufacturing the Toyota Aygo X and Yaris hybrid for European markets, will undergo a €680 million ($796 million) expansion to accommodate the new BEV production, its battery packs, and new paint and welding shops.

The expansion will increase the plant's production space to 173,000 sq.-m (1.86 million sq.-ft.), a 13,000 sq.-m (140,000 sq.-ft.) increase from its current 152,000 sq.-m (1.64 million sq.-ft.). The Czech government is assisting Toyota in this expansion.

The name of the new electric vehicle Toyota will produce in Europe for the first time has not been explicitly mentioned in the available sources. However, the production of a new BEV in Europe is a part of Toyota's broader commitment to carbon neutrality and efficient transportation in Europe.

Yoshihiro Nakata, president and CEO of Toyota Motor Europe, has expressed his support for the new BEV project. He emphasized that the new BEV production is aligned with Toyota's goal of carbon-neutral operations in Europe by 2040.

The new BEV production line will also contribute to more efficient transportation in the European market. It will be established alongside Toyota's internal-combustion-engine and hybrid products, signifying Toyota's multi-pathway strategy.

The new BEV production is expected to enhance Toyota's presence in the European market. The company's investment in the expansion of the plant in Kolin underscores its commitment to the European market and its efforts to provide more sustainable transportation solutions.

The statement about the new BEV project also emphasizes its role in achieving Toyota's carbon-neutral objectives in Europe. The new BEV production is a significant step in Toyota's strategy to contribute to a more sustainable European market, and it is a part of Toyota's solutions towards more efficient transportation.
