Monster Hunter Wilds' Title Update 2: A Return to Roots, Performance Boost, and More

Last night, Capcom unveiled details about the upcoming Title Update 2 for Monster Hunter Wilds, dropping next week. The update promises some fan-favorite monsters, new cosmetic additions, balance tweaks, and purported performance improvements that could help Wilds regain its former glory.

At the forefront of the additions, we've got two returning hunters from previous Monster Hunter games: Lagiacrus and Seregios. Although Lagiacrus' massive fanbase has been clamoring for its return since Generations Ultimate in 2017, technical glitches have kept it out of the mainline series since then. Ryozo Tsujimoto, series producer, confirmed that the aquatic, lightning-charged serpent was desperately missed by fans.

Seregios, having made its debut in Monster Hunter 4, is essentially a hawk-rattlesnake hybrid, and according to Monster Hunter Wilds director Yuya Tokuda, it was designed as an opponent that would be more unpredictable in its movements and attacks. For its comeback in Wilds, the team concentrated on emphasizing the original concept, aiming to make Seregios a dance partner you'd enjoy battling against.

Lagiacrus and Seregios will also materialize as 8-star tempered monsters, placed on par with the infamous 8-star Gore Magala and providing more challenging hunts for players who still believe that Wilds lacked sufficient difficulty.

One of the most critical aspects of the update, according to the official Title Update 2 patch notes on the Wilds website, is a focus on Steam-specific performance fixes, particularly addressing the texture streaming issues that have been in the spotlight as one of the main causes of Wilds' performance concerns. These modifications aim at improving overall gaming performance, potentially soothing the performance woes mentioned in recent negatively reviewed Wilds.

In addition to new monsters, the update introduces the Layered Weapon system, allowing hunters to use the appearance of any fully upgraded weapon rather than sacrificing their god roll Artian weapon for fashion. Summer will also bring a new seasonal event with tropical-themed armor sets and decorations, as well as an arch-tempered Uth Duna event quest.

Oh, and in August there's a Fender guitar gesture available through an event quest to celebrate the Monster Hunter Rathalos Telecaster collaboration guitar, if you're into that sort of thing.

Title Update 2 launches next Monday, June 30, with a third Title Update scheduled for late September, introducing even more exciting features.
