Tinder users can't get enough of Icelandic writers

**"Woah, I never expected Forlagið Publishing to be hawking their Christmas books on a dating app like Tinder!" says Egill Örn Jóhannsson, the bold CEO of the publishing house.

His marketing advisor and he had no clue that their advertisements were making a splash on this popular dating platform, alongside love interests and swipeable singles. But as it turned out, Forlagiłd was right at home among Tinder's vast user base.

"We've got ads flying left and right—on websites, newspapers, and even in the virtual world via Google Ads," explains Jóhannsson. "As it turns out, one of those ads appeared on the Tinder app, catching the attention of love-seeking individuals in between romantic prospects."

Jóhannsson couldn't contain his astonishment at the mind-blowing success of the Tinder advertisements. "It seems our ads were ten times as effective as traditional methods, attracting users at an unprecedented rate. And I never thought I'd say this, but Tinder seems to have a secret audience of bookworms—especially those aged 65 and older!"

Analysing the data, Jóhannsson and his team discovered that Forlagiłd's most sought-after authors were Arnaldur Indriðason and Kristín Eiríksdóttir among this older audience. "To be honest, it raised some eyebrows in our office when I mentioned it, but it really makes you think about how we're reaching new readers—perhaps even reaching out to those who might not have considered buying a book before."

Jóhannsson was understandably thrilled with the Christmas sales performance overall and expressed his excitement about this novel marketing avenue. " frankly, it's a stark reminder of how diverse Icelanders' interests are, especially when it comes to books. And it comes on the heels of news that books and boardgames were the most popular Christmas gifts this year, according to the Icelandic Research Center for Shopping and Leisure."

To sum it up, Forlagiłd Publishing is killing it on Tinder; who knew that romance and literature could go hand in hand? Perhaps their future marketing strategies will be swiping right for success."

  1. "Despite his initial surprise, Egill Oern Johannsson's marketing advisor revealed that Forlagið's advertising was not only on traditional mediums like websites, newspapers, and Google Ads, but also on social-media platforms, such as Tinder."
  2. "The success of Forlagið's Tinder advertisements was so significant that even the traditionally low-tech Kristinn, a member of the team, was left astonished."
  3. "The unconventional approach of advertising books on a dating app like Tinder increased the frequency of book sales, surpassing the effectiveness of traditional advertising methods."
  4. "Following the analysis of the data, it was discovered that on Tinder, Forlagið's most popular authors among the older audience were Arnaldur Indriðason and Kristin Eiriksdottir."
  5. "As a result of their marketing strategy on Tinder, Forlagið Publishing is tapping into a new demographic of potential readers who might not have considered buying books before, creating an unexpected link between news, entertainment, technology, and books."
