Thuraya-4 Now Operational, Expanding Global Connectivity
Thuraya-4, a satellite operated by Space42, is now fully operational at 44.3 degrees East. This marks a significant step forward in global mobility and communication solutions, filling a gap left by the failure of Thuraya-3 in April 2024.
Thuraya-4 promises next-generation capabilities, including expanded secure L-band capacity for critical communications. It offers faster speeds and extends coverage across Africa, Europe, Central Asia, and the Middle East. This expansion is set to benefit more than 150 countries and potentially reach 5 billion people worldwide.
Space42, the operator of Thuraya-4, is no stranger to such feats. Born from a merger between Bayanat and Yahsat, it offers a range of services, including YahLink, YahClick, Yahlive, and highly-secure communications for local governments. The company's portfolio also includes satellite communications, geospatial, and artificial intelligence capabilities.
With Thuraya-4 now operational, Space42 continues to broaden its global entry and enhance communication solutions. Led by CEO Karl Toriola, the company is poised to deliver improved connectivity and secure cybersecurity to regions previously underserved.
