The iconic collection of The North Face has been revitalized to celebrate its 25th anniversary.
The North Face, a leading outdoor apparel brand, is set to push mountain athletes to new heights with its latest drop - the Summit Alpine collection. Claimed to be the most advanced layering system to date, this collection is designed for extreme high-altitude conditions and ultra-trail events.
The Summit Alpine collection offers a refined layering system that keeps athletes warm, dry, and protected without adding unnecessary bulk. It includes a full suite of proprietary North Face technologies, such as DOTKNIT, FUTUREFLEECE, and PRODOWN.
PRODOWN is a water-repellent down that retains loft even when damp, a crucial advantage in alpine conditions. FUTUREFLEECE reimagines traditional fleece into a lightweight, heat-trapping fabric that offers warmth without the weight. DOTKNIT, engineered to actively pull sweat away from the skin and push it to the outside of the garment, where it can evaporate, ensures optimal comfort during high-intensity activities.
VENTRIX provides dynamic insulation that adapts to movement, breathing when active and locking in warmth when paused. FLASHDRY technology helps control sweat, ensuring athletes stay dry and comfortable even during strenuous activities.
Spectra yarn, one of the world's lightest and strongest fibers, is added to the Summit Alpine collection for exceptional durability in ultralight fabrics. The collection also boasts GORE-TEX (non-PFAS ePE variety), widely regarded as the gold standard for breathable-waterproof protection, and FUTURELIGHT, which brings a new level of breathable waterproofing for high-output activities.
The Summit Alpine collection is not just for the next big adventure. It has been used by climbers, alpinists, and skiers in harsh environments for over two and a half decades. The Summit Series pieces, a part of this collection, are currently available at The North Face UK and The North Face US.
While the limited Summit Series Flora Alpina collection is the current offering, more alpine climb and snowsport collections are due in the coming months. The next big reveal from The North Face, teased as the 'most advanced layering system to date,' is scheduled for October 2025.
The North Face is looking forward to the next quarter century, where it aims to continue pushing boundaries and helping mountain athletes conquer new heights. With the Summit Alpine collection, they are certainly off to a strong start.
