The 2024.33.5 Update: Enhancement of FSD 12.5.4.2 Software for Hardware Version 3, promising improved smoothness
Tesla Rolls Out 2024.33.5 Software Update with Improvements to Actually Smart Summon (ASS)
Tesla has started rolling out a new software update for Hardware 3 (HW3/AI3) vehicles, bringing several enhancements to the Actually Smart Summon (ASS) feature.
With this update, users can look forward to a smoother visualization experience with ASS, as reported by Twitter user @BLKMDL3, who noticed that the visualization on his HW3 Model 3 is smoother than on his Model Y with Hardware 4/AI4. This improvement seems to fix a previous bug that caused a slow frame rate refresh in ASS 12.5.4.2 on HW3 cars.
The update also includes reduced false positive collision mitigation aborts and improved blocked camera aborts, aiming to provide a safer driving experience. Vision-based attention monitoring works even with sunglasses in FSD (Supervised) v12.5.4.2, further enhancing safety.
ASS allows a Tesla to come to the owner or head to a chosen spot automatically. The feature also includes Dumb Summon, a simpler control system that allows moving the Tesla forward or backward via simple app controls. Usage without continuous press will be available soon, making it even more convenient for users.
Other improvements in the update include earlier and more natural lane change decisions in FSD (Supervised), upgrades to city-streets driving with a single neural network trained on millions of video clips, and the replacement of over 300,000 lines of C++ code.
Moreover, the update introduces custom and fart completion sounds, adding a fun touch to the driving experience. HomeLink & myQ garage integration is coming soon, further streamlining the user experience.
It's worth noting that full end-to-end driving on highways is an upcoming improvement. FSD 12.5.4.2 is expected to go to wide release, particularly for those on the free extended FSD trial. However, the planned release date for all vehicles participating in the free extended FSD trial has not been officially announced.
Safety reminders for using ASS and Dumb Summon include using them only in parking lots or driveways, monitoring the car and surroundings, and remaining responsible for the vehicle's actions. Public/high-speed roads pause ASS maneuver to ensure user safety.
To use ASS, open the Tesla app, go to the Summon tab, and view a live feed from the car's cameras. As always, it's essential to update the Tesla mobile app to version 4.37.0 or later to access the new features.
This update marks a significant step forward in Tesla's continued efforts to improve the driving experience and bring us closer to full self-driving capabilities. Stay tuned for more updates and improvements in the future.
