Funding Obtained by Ora Technologies for Realization of Morocco's Superapp Ambition Valued at $7.5 Million

Tech company Ora Technologies receives $7.5 million investment to fuel their plan to create Morocco's next superapp.

Ora Technologies, a groundbreaking digital platform based in Casablanca, has secured $7.5 million in Series A funding, marking a significant step forward in Morocco’s digital economy.

Founded in 2023 by Omar Alami, Ora Technologies aims to develop Morocco’s first fully integrated superapp, integrating multiple services into one platform. Since its beta launch, the app has recorded over 300,000 downloads.

The Series A round was led by Azur Innovation Management, with participation from three other strategic local Moroccan investors. This funding round is the largest publicly confirmed Series A tech funding in Morocco in 2025, signalling a growing appetite for scalable tech platforms with nationwide relevance in Morocco.

At the heart of Ora's services is Ora Cash, a universal mobile wallet that supports various transactions and cash withdrawals at over 5,000 agent locations. The mobile wallet was developed in partnership with M2T, a subsidiary of Banque Centrale Populaire.

Ora's superapp also includes KooulMaroc, a food delivery and e-commerce arm, messaging, social networking, marketplace features, and on-demand services. The platform supports multiple languages—Darija, French, Arabic, English, and Spanish—allowing it to reach diverse Moroccan users in both urban and rural regions.

The $7.5 million funding will be employed to expand last-mile delivery operations, strengthen digital cash collection infrastructure, upgrade technology, and scale customer acquisition. Additionally, Ora may further expand into financial services, potentially introducing products like microcredit.

Ora Technologies exemplifies growing local investor confidence in Morocco’s tech ecosystem and the increasing focus on digital infrastructure tailored specifically for Moroccan needs. It is positioned as one of North Africa's pioneering superapps, similar in vision to Asia’s WeChat and Gojek, but adapted for Morocco’s market and cultural context.

The funding round comes amidst a broader shift in Morocco’s tech ecosystem, away from historically favored real estate and low-risk sectors by Moroccan investors. This investment suggests a shift in focus towards digital innovation, addressing the issue of digital fragmentation in Morocco.
