New Suzuki Compact-SUV, Fronx, Makes Debut in New Zealand

Suzuki New Zealand has introduced a carvana of a new addition to their lineup, the Fronx, a compact-SUV aimed at the Kia Seltos and Mitsubishi ASX in the competitive compact-SUV segment.

The Fronx, a portmanteau of 'frontier' and 'crossover', is powered by a 1.5-litre 4-cylinder engine with a 12v mild hybrid system. It is produced by Suzuki's Indian subsidiary, similar to the old Baleno hatchback, and is based on Suzuki's Heartect platform.

Standard equipment on the Fronx GLX includes a 9-inch infotainment screen, heated front seats, a 360-degree camera, head-up display, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The vehicle is front-wheel drive only and is available in only one model in New Zealand. A 6-speed automatic transmission is standard.

The Fronx has a weight of 1065kg and a boot capacity of 308 liters with three separate layers. The vehicle is primarily designed for city driving.

The Fronx is smaller than Suzuki's Ignis and Swift, and larger than Vitara. Another compact-SUV from India that is similar in size to the Fronx is the Mahindra XUV 3XO.

The official price of the Fronx GLX in New Zealand is $31,990, or $32,990 for a 2-tone exterior finish. Suzuki NZ is offering a launch special of $29,990/$30,990 for the first 300 cars.

However, the Fronx is not currently scheduled for an Australian test due to its later launch in the year, and no specific information on the Fronx's price in Australia was found in the current news search results. There are no available details yet about the pricing model for the Fronx in Australia.

The Fronx has a single color option for the body, with black, white, blue, or grey available, and orange, red, or silver for the two-tone models. The vehicle is not sold in Europe and has not been tested by Euro NCAP.

The Fronx is primarily designed for city driving, making it an attractive option for those seeking a compact and efficient vehicle for urban environments. With its impressive standard features and competitive pricing, the Fronx is sure to make news in the compact-SUV market.
