Sumitomo Mitsui Card to Acquire CCC MK for Billions, Boosting Loyalty Program Integration

Sumitomo Mitsui Card Co. is set to acquire CCC MK Holdings Co. at the end of March 2026. The deal, valued in the tens of billions of yen, aims to enhance user convenience by merging loyalty program data with banking data.

CCC MK, operator of the V Point loyalty program, will see its combined stake with Sumitomo Mitsui Card and Sumitomo Mitsui Financial rise from 40% to 80% following the acquisition. This significant investment reflects Sumitomo Mitsui Card's ambition to boost user experience. The planned sum for the acquisition is approximately in the range of several billion yen.

Post-acquisition, Sumitomo Mitsui Card plans to rename CCC MK to V Point Marketing, further integrating the loyalty program into its services.

The acquisition of CCC MK by Sumitomo Mitsui Card, expected to close at the end of March 2026, will strengthen the company's position in the loyalty program sector. The deal, valued in the tens of billions of yen, is a strategic move to enhance user convenience through data integration and a renamed V Point Marketing.
