Stephen White: Driving Innovation in Music Technology
Stephen White, a native of Madison, WI, is currently serving as the CEO and Chairman of Dubset Media Holdings, a company revolutionising the music industry with its platforms Dubset and MixBANK.
Before joining Dubset in 2015, White held the position of CEO and President at Gracenote from 2012 to 2014. Under his leadership, Gracenote transformed from a small start-up into a digital entertainment leader. White's tenure at Gracenote spanned over 14 years, during which he held numerous roles.
Prior to his time at Gracenote, White was a senior director and executive producer for CKS, a media consultancy based in Silicon Valley. He then moved on to become the VP of development for streaming music start-up Echo.com.
White's insights on international trends in the music industry, the role of curation by DJs, and early streaming and shifting from one B2B model to another have been highly influential. He has also shared his observations on disruptive technologies in the music industry.
Under White's leadership at Dubset, the company has become a significant player in solving copyright and royalty challenges around mixes and remixes. This has enabled DJs, artists, and content creators to distribute their works legally while ensuring rights holders are compensated.
Dubset's technology uses audio fingerprinting and rights clearance to allow streamed DJ sets and mixes to be monetized across digital platforms, bridging gaps between traditional music rights and new forms of content creation in music technology. White's role involves driving business strategy, partnerships with digital services, and innovation in music rights management technology.
