In the wake of a cyberassault on the smartphones of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern's state police force, officers are back to basics.

Reports indicate the State Commissioner for Data Protection and Information Freedom has been notified, and an investigation has been launched. As of yet, the perpetrators behind the attack and the entry points for the hackers remain unclear.
Drivers still at risk of fines
Despite the cyberattack, drivers are not immune to citations. The queries, usually conducted online, are now being relayed via radio to the police station, with officers at the station then broadcasting the evaluated data back to the field officers via radio message.
