Spain-Based Groups to Boost Aurora Pacific Ecozone with Food Logistics Hub and Convention Center

A significant development is underway in the Aurora Pacific Economic Zone and Freeport Authority (APECO) in Casiguran, Aurora. Spain-based groups have agreed to assist in establishing a food and cold chain logistics hub within the ecozone. Initial talks have taken place with engineering firm IDOM Consulting, Engineering, Architecture S.A.U., and designer Fira Barcelona.

The logistics hub, set to occupy five to 10 hectares, is expected to be a major boost for the local economy. IDOM officials have offered to help APECO gain access to investment-ready projects, including potential partnerships with the Asian Development Bank. Meanwhile, discussions are ongoing with Fira Barcelona CEO Ricard Zapatero for the possibility of a world-class convention center within the ecozone.

A working group has been formed to draft a memorandum of agreement (MOA) within 60 days. This group will finalize the list of projects with IDOM and Fira. The proposed feasibility study for the food and logistics hub is similar to the 100-ha. wholesale and logistics hub called Mercabarna, indicating the scale and potential of the project.

The collaboration between APECO and Spain-based groups signals a promising future for the Aurora Pacific Economic Zone. The logistics hub and potential convention center are expected to attract more investments, create jobs, and stimulate economic growth in the region.
