SpaceX Delays Starship Debut Launch Due to Technical Issue

SpaceX has postponed the debut launch of its Starship and Super Heavy rocket due to a technical issue. The flight, initially planned for April 18, was delayed by at least two days. The next launch window is now set for Wednesday, April 19, with a potential liftoff on Thursday, April 20.

The launch was called off due to a frozen pressurization valve in the lower-stage rocket booster. This issue led to a delay, pushing the launch back from its original two-hour window starting at 8 am EDT (1200 GMT) on April 18. If the launch proceeds as planned, the 90-minute flight would mark the first time the Starship reaches space and the first flight of the Super Heavy booster.

The Starship, nearly two times more powerful than NASA's Space Launch System (SLS), would have achieved nearly one full orbit of the Earth before crashing into the Pacific. Meanwhile, the Super Heavy booster would have attempted a controlled return flight before plunging into the Gulf of Mexico. Both the Super Heavy booster and the Starship would have ended their inaugural flight with crash landings at sea.

Standing taller than the Statue of Liberty at 394 feet (120 m) high, the Starship and Super Heavy rocket are set to make history with their maiden flight. Developed by SpaceX and its founder Elon Musk, the rocket is poised to revolutionize space travel. The next launch window is on Wednesday, April 19, with a potential liftoff on Thursday, April 20, pending successful resolution of the technical issue.
