South Korean tech company LG CNS will construct an AI data center worth W100 billion in Jakarta.
In the heart of Jakarta, LG CNS, a Korean information technology solutions provider under the LG Group, is constructing a state-of-the-art AI data center. This ambitious project, valued at 100 billion won ($72 million), will be the largest AI data center in Indonesia upon completion.
Located in Menteng, central Jakarta, the data center boasts strategic access to national backbone networks and submarine cable systems. Covering an 11-story structure with a gross floor area of 46,281 square meters, it will house more than 100,000 servers.
The facility will feature specialized infrastructure for graphics processing unit farms, equipped with a hybrid cooling system to manage heat from high-performance GPUs. It will also prioritize network neutrality, allowing tenant telecom choice.
LG CNS is leading the project, overseeing data center design, operation, and construction. They are joined by key partners such as LG Electronics, providing cooling system technologies, and LG Energy Solution, offering backup power solutions. The Indonesian conglomerate, Sinar Mas Group, serves as the local partner through a joint venture called LG Sinar Mas Technology Solutions. KMG, a joint venture between Sinar Mas and Korea Investment Real Asset Management, is spearheading the project's development.
LG CNS brings over three decades of experience in operating and constructing data centers, having completed nine domestic and overseas facilities. Their expertise in the sector was a significant factor in Sinar Mas' decision to partner with them. Last year, LG CNS delivered consulting and design services for the project, securing their role in the main construction phase.
Once completed, the facility is expected to start at 30 MW power capacity and scale up to 220 MW. It will be an environmentally friendly operation, with an advanced heating, ventilation, and air conditioning system.
LG CNS aims to expand its AI data center business across Southeast Asia, with plans to establish similar facilities in Singapore and Malaysia. This marks the first AI-focused data center established overseas by a Korean company. The project is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2026.

The AI data center, being constructed by LG CNS in Menteng, central Jakarta, will not only focus on business and finance but also incorporate data-and-cloud-computing technology to house over 100,000 servers. With the incorporation of artificial-intelligence, the center aims to scale up its power capacity from 30 MW to 220 MW, making it a significant player not just in Indonesia, but also in Southeast Asia, with plans to establish similar facilities in Singapore and Malaysia.
