Solar Power's Impact on Home Values Minimal, Despite Misinformation

Solar power, now the most popular electricity source in the US, faces misinformation campaigns from fossil-fuel backed groups. Despite this, solar's impact on home values is minimal, and sometimes even positive.

Research shows that utility-scale solar farms do not significantly impact nearby home values. In fact, they sometimes even increase them. This is contrary to debunked false claims spread by centralized, fossil-fuel funded sources.

The Sabin Center for Climate Change at Columbia Law School has refuted 14 such false claims about solar power. Despite this, large-scale solar has seen a decrease in popularity.

Solar capacity deployment has grown by over 50%, with solar capacity in the queues breaking and holding above 1,000 GW. Rooftop solar is the most popular, but solar faces pushback as it grows beyond 50 acres.

Unlike solar, fossil fuel power plants decrease home values more. Yet, opposition to solar power persists, with misinformation campaigns aiming to alter public opinion on renewable energy.

Solar power and energy storage are now being installed more than any other energy source. Despite false claims and pushback, solar's impact on home values is minimal, and sometimes even positive. As solar capacity continues to grow, it's crucial to address misinformation campaigns and promote accurate information about solar power.
