Smartwatches from Pebble have made a comeback, bringing back the renowned brand name.
Pebble Makes a Splash: The Return of the Iconic Smartwatch Brand
After a long hiatus, the original smartwatch company, Pebble, is making a comeback under the name Core Devices. The company, founded by Eric Migicovsky, is set to release two new smartwatches: the Pebble 2 Duo and the Pebble Time 2.
Pebble 2 Duo: Ready for Shipment
The Pebble 2 Duo, previously known as the Core 2 Duo, is set to start shipping by the end of August 2025, with a second batch planned for mid-September. The delay in launch was primarily due to improvements in the waterproof rating and speaker waterproofing.
Customers can expect to receive an email with a link to change or confirm their address and pay any outstanding tariffs, taxes, or duties once the final tasks before mass production are complete. The Pebble 2 Duo will retail at around $149.
Pebble Time 2: Engineering Verification Testing
The Pebble Time 2, the last smartwatch the original Pebble team made but never shipped, is still in the engineering verification testing (EVT) phase. The company plans to provide a full update, including pictures, very soon. However, no confirmed shipping or release date has been announced yet.
The Pebble Time 2 will use the exact same display as the original Pebble Time 2. The pricing for the Pebble Time 2 is estimated to be around $225.
New Mobile App and Alpha Testing
Core Designs has already shipped over 100 Pebble smartwatches to 'alpha' testers, a step towards mass production. The new Pebble mobile app is close to being released and is currently being tested on TestFlight.
A Look Ahead
The information reflects updates as of late July 2025 from Pebble founder Eric Migicovsky and associated company Core Devices. It is important to note that the asterisk in Pebble Time 2's name may or may not be part of the final name. No order confirmation emails have been sent out yet, indicating that customers have not missed anything.
Stay tuned for more updates on the Pebble Time 2 and the Pebble 2 Duo as they approach their expected release dates.
