Smartphone Gmail now streamlines scheduling with a single tap for event creation from emails.
In a recent update, Google has introduced a new feature on the mobile version of Gmail that simplifies event management for users. This innovative feature, named Gemini, allows users to convert emails containing event details into Google Calendar entries with a single tap.
With this new addition, Gemini can now automatically find events in emails, scanning the content to identify potential event details like date, time, and location. If an email contains several distinct events, the feature can detect and offer to add all of them simultaneously.
This update extends Gemini's previous mobile capabilities, which required users to manually command event creation. By automating event detection and simplifying the process directly inside Gmail on mobile devices, Google aims to make event management more efficient for its users.
Currently, this feature works only for emails in English. It does not appear for event types that Gmail already handles automatically, such as restaurant reservations or flight confirmations. Users need to manually add guests to any events created via this feature.
The feature is available for most Google Workspace plans, as well as for Google Workspace AI Pro and Ultra subscribers. It is expected to complete deployment within about 15 days of August 13, 2025.
Tapping the "Add to Calendar" button reveals a confirmation panel where users can instantly save the event to their calendar. Users no longer need to manually switch between apps or input data to save an event from an email.
This new service is a significant step forward in streamlining email management and event organisation for Google users. While there are no immediate plans to expand the feature to other languages, the potential for increased efficiency and convenience is undeniable.
