Siemens Gamesa's 14 MW Turbines will rotate at Ocean Winds' wind farm located in Poland, as announced on their official site.

Wind energy company Ocean Winds has partnered with Siemens Gamesa to procure 26 wind turbines for their BC-Wind project, as outlined on their website.

Siemens Gamesa's 14 MW Turbines will rotate at Ocean Winds' wind farm located in Poland, as announced on their official site.

The BC-Wind offshore wind farm, a project by Ocean Winds in Poland, is making significant strides towards its construction. Located approximately 23 kilometers off the coast of Krokowa and Choczewo in the Polish Baltic Sea, the wind farm is expected to have a capacity of up to 390 MW, powering around 488,000 households.

Ocean Winds has agreed to the supply of 26 Siemens Gamesa SG 14-236 wind turbines for the project. Each turbine boasts a nominal capacity of 14 MW, with a Power Boost feature that can increase output to 15 MW. The installation and commissioning work for these turbines are scheduled for 2028.

The marshalling harbour for pre-assembly and load-out will be Terminal T5 in the Port of Gdańsk, while the turbine installation will be carried out by Cadeler using specialized ships. The offshore substation for the project will be delivered by CRIST Offshore under a contract signed with Ocean Winds in March 2025.

Pete Geddes, Project Director for BC-Wind, Ocean Winds, commented on the decision to choose Siemens Gamesa, stating that their proven efficiency and technological evolution from the Moray West project in the UK played a significant role. The agreement also includes a long-term service and maintenance agreement for the 390 MW project, ensuring reliability and optimal performance throughout the project's operational life.

The BC-Wind project is part of Phase I of Poland's offshore wind development and has already received environmental approvals, a Contract for Difference, and a final investment decision is anticipated in 2025. With these milestones achieved, the project moves closer to contract finalisation and potentially leading to a Final Investment Decision (FID) within this year.
