Apple Introduces Satellite Roadside Assistance for iPhone Users in Australia
Apple has announced a new service for iPhone users in Australia, offering Roadside Assistance via satellite for two years with the activation of a new iPhone 14 or later, running iOS 18.4 or later.
This service builds on the technology behind Apple's Emergency SOS via satellite, which was launched in Australia in 2023. The satellite features have been designed for use in open spaces with a clear line of sight to the sky, but performance may be impacted by obstructions such as trees or surrounding buildings.
Starting from Monday, 15th September, the motoring clubs partnering with Apple to provide satellite roadside assistance for iPhone users across Australia are the NRMA (National Roads and Motorists’ Association), RACQ (Royal Automobile Club of Queensland), RAC (Royal Automobile Club of Western Australia), and AANT (Australian Automobile Association).
Eligibility for Roadside Assistance is verified for affiliated motoring club members, while non-members can access services on a paid basis. It's important to note that this service is only available to vehicles located on or near a public road, off-road recovery is not provided.
For all media requests, Apple's Media and Communications team can be contacted. This new service is a significant step forward in Apple's commitment to providing innovative solutions to enhance the user experience.
