Samsung's upcoming Galaxy S26 Ultra model might forgo the S Pen in favor of incorporating a different technological innovation.
Scoop on the Upcoming Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra
The Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra is on the horizon, and whispers about its awaited features are starting to circulate.
The latest leak comes from PandaFlashPro on X, suggesting that Samsung might ditch some S Pen features to make room for a new charging technology.
"Samsung currently has new S-Pen Tech, and they're ready to use it in the Ultra," PandaFlash tweeted. Specifically, it's alleged that Samsung will scrap the S-Pen Digitizer to allow for a Qi2 magnetic ring to be added to the phone.
This addition would not only enable magnetic charging but also help the phone maker create a slimmer device like the S26 Ultra. Currently, the S25 Ultra is Qi2 Ready, but it doesn't have magnetic rings like the iPhone 15 Pro Max. If Samsung incorporates Qi2 magnetic rings, it could offer a MagSafe-like functionality, similar to Apple's.
PandaFlash additionally hinted that Samsung's revamped S Pen could appear in the Galaxy Z Fold 7, featuring new tech and a larger form factor. It's unclear if the S26 Ultra will lose its built-in S Pen holder. The leaker did mention, however, that the S26 Ultra will not reintroduce the Bluetooth-equipped S Pen.
Other rumors suggest that Samsung might nix the S Pen entirely after the Galaxy S27 series. If the S Pen rumors are accurate, we may get our first peek at it next month at the annual summer Galaxy Unpacked event, where Samsung's next foldables will be unveiled.
After that, we can expect Samsung to announce its flagship S series line in January, likely the time we'll encounter the S26 family.
