S&P Global Unveils 2025 Tier 1 Cleantech Companies List
S&P Global Commodity Insights has unveiled its first-ever 2025 Tier 1 Cleantech Companies list, featuring 63 leading renewable energy suppliers. This comprehensive guide aims to serve as a consistent and transparent reference point for developers, lenders, and investors seeking reliable partners in the clean energy sector.
The list, which covers solar modules, inverters, wind turbines, and battery energy storage systems (BESS), includes 14 module suppliers, ten inverter manufacturers, nine wind turbine companies, and ten BESS companies. Notably, two companies - Envision Energy and Canadian Solar - have been recognised as Tier 1 suppliers in multiple categories. Envision Energy is listed as a Tier 1 provider for both Wind Turbines and Battery Energy Storage Systems, while Canadian Solar is recognised for both PV modules and BESS.
The Tier 1 designation is awarded to companies that exceed a defined threshold across at least four of six key dimensions: market presence, market share, shipment scale, global diversification, financial performance, and sustainability assessment. This classification provides a transparent benchmark for reliability and long-term performance in the clean energy supply chain.
Reflecting the global distribution of industrial power, Chinese firms dominate all categories in the 2025 roster. The list, which is arranged alphabetically within each category and does not constitute investment advice, offers a valuable resource for stakeholders seeking to navigate the complex and evolving clean energy landscape.
