Revamped Corvette California Design Showcases an Augmented Reality Dashboard and a Removable Roof Panel
The California Corvette Concept, unveiled by General Motors (GM), is an all-electric design study that blends the spirit of Southern California with the legacy of the Corvette in a sleek, hypercar form. Measuring 182.5 inches in length with a 109-inch wheelbase, the California Corvette Concept is roughly the size of a C8 Corvette but boasts a more aggressive stance, sitting 7 inches lower and 10 inches wider. Its wide, aggressive proportions and tapered, front-hinged canopy, which is removable to convert it into an open-air track car, make for an arresting visual impact.
At its core lies a lightweight carbon fiber tub, enhancing aerodynamics and structural rigidity. The concept incorporates advanced aerodynamic design, with air channels sculpted into the body to funnel air under the nose and through a massive rear diffuser, generating downforce without the need for traditional wings. Active aero elements, such as a rear spoiler doubling as an air brake, mimicking Formula 1 technology, further add to its aerodynamic prowess.
The powertrain is fully electric, although the exact motor setup remains undisclosed. A T-shaped prismatic battery pack allows for a low, streamlined seating position and improved airflow through the chassis.
