Retrospective: A Recap of the Year 2023

In the world of visual effects and post-production, Boris FX has been making waves with its commitment to integrating AI technology into its suite of tools. Over the past year, the company has introduced several new products and updates, focusing on AI-driven tools and significant improvements to existing ones.

The journey began in April with the release of CrumplePop, a simple yet powerful AI-driven audio restoration tool. CrumplePop offers quick-fix solutions for noise, traffic, wind, rustle, and clipping removal, providing a significant boost to sound quality.

Following CrumplePop, Boris FX launched SynthEyes in August. SynthEyes is a fast and efficient 3D tracking and match moving tool designed for visual effects artists.

In 2023 and 2024, Boris FX continued to push the boundaries of AI technology in its products. The popular suite of effects, transitions, and presets, Boris FX Continuum, received AI-powered tools such as noise reduction, image upscaling, and instant generation of motion graphics elements using Particle Illusion’s 3D particle animations. The suite also offers 2D/3D vector title creation in Title Studio, streamlining diverse creative workflows across many editing and VFX applications.

To further enhance the user experience, Boris FX released a free standalone version of Particle Illusion in 2024, enabling users to generate 3D particle animations independently from other host applications.

In 2025, Boris FX launched SynthEyes 2025.5 with AI-assisted tracking and automation features to help artists speed up 3D camera tracking and match moving, which are critical for VFX and compositing workflows.

Boris FX Hub, launched in October, offers a seamless, user-friendly experience for installing products, managing licenses, staying updated with the latest releases, and taking free trials.

Throughout the year, Boris FX delivered several new effects and timesaving options, including Sapphire 2023.5, Mocha Pro 2023, Silhouette 2023, and more. Silhouette, in particular, includes the Stability Node (2023), a DeNoiser ML node (2023), and an UpRes ML node (2023.5) to speed up and improve various tasks.

The company's products have been used in various popular productions, including The Last Of Us, Ted Lasso, Hawkeye, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, and YouTuber Jonkari P's meme videos with over 115 million views.

Boris FX also hosted its first in-person customer appreciation event since the pandemic in New York City this summer. The event was a testament to the company's gratitude towards its community for choosing their products.

Both CrumplePop and SynthEyes are available within the Boris FX Suite or as individual products. New users can start with a free Starter plan for CrumplePop. Active Boris FX Suite subscribers also have access to the premium downloads of all Essential training series for free.

As we move into 2024, Boris FX continues to innovate, pushing the boundaries of what is possible with AI technology in the realm of visual effects and post-production.

With the release of CrumplePop, Boris FX introduced an AI-driven audio restoration tool that enhances lifestyle productions by providing swift noise reduction, clipping removal, and other sound quality improvements. In the VFX and post-production industry, Boris FX's SynthEyes, a 3D tracking and match moving tool, leverages technology to assist visual effects artists in streamlining their workflows.
