Fiat Slashes Prices on 500e Electric Hatchback and Abarth 500e in Australia

Fiat has announced significant price reductions for its electric vehicles in Australia, making them more affordable for consumers. The drive-away price for the Fiat 500e La Prima is now $38,990, while the Abarth 500e Scorpionissima is available for $43,990.

The Fiat 500e La Prima is a compact, two-door city electric car, measuring 3.63 metres in length. It comes with an 87 kW motor, a 42 kWh battery, and offers a driving range of up to 311 km WLTP. The Abarth 500e Scorpionissima, the sportier variant, features a front-mounted motor producing 114 kW of power and 235 Nm of torque, offering a driving range of 253 km WLTP on the same size battery.

The Abarth 500e Scorpionissima can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in just 7 seconds, a significant improvement compared to the 500e's 9 seconds. Both models can DC charge at up to 85 kW, allowing for quick and efficient charging. The Abarth 500e's battery can be charged from 10-80% in approximately 35 minutes.

The special offers on the Fiat 500e and Abarth 500e are expected to run until 30 September 2025 or until stock is available. These discounted prices represent a significant reduction compared to previous pricing, with the Fiat 500e being around $52,500 before on-road costs and the Abarth 500e being about $60,500 before on-road costs.

Riz Akhtar, the founder of carloop, a company specializing in Australian EV data, insight reports, and trends, welcomes the price reductions. Akhtar, a mechanical engineer, spent the first 7 years of his career building transport infrastructure before starting carloop. He drives a red Tesla Model 3 and is passionate about reducing transport emissions in Australia.

Small niche EV models are likely to see price reductions in the coming months due to increased competition in the EV market. With these new prices, Fiat's electric city cars are now positioned competitively within the Australian EV market. The 500e's onboard AC-charger can add up to 11 kW where a three-phase powered charger is available.

The Fiat 500e and Abarth 500e come with three driving modes: Turismo, Scorpion Street, and Scorpion Track. These modes offer different driving experiences, catering to various preferences. The Fiat 500e La Prima also features a boot space of up to 550 L with the rear seats folded down.

These price reductions make electric vehicles more accessible to a wider audience, potentially accelerating the shift towards sustainable transportation in Australia.

  1. The reduction in prices for Fiat's electric vehicles, including the 500e and Abarth 500e, might encourage more people to consider electric cars, helping to accelerate the shift towards sustainable transportation in Australia.
  2. With the announced price reductions, Fiat's electric models now align more closely with the price range of other electric vehicles in the Australian market, increasing competition within the industry.
  3. The discounted prices for the Fiat 500e and Abarth 500e make these electric vehicles more affordable for consumers, especially those interested in the automotive segment, and may attract finance-conscious consumers too, as they explore different lifestyle choices.
  4. These price cuts on electric vehicles, such as the Fiat 500e and Abarth 500e, may force other technology companies in the automotive industry to reconsider their own pricing strategies, potentially leading to further price reductions in the electric-vehicles market.
