Rapidly Introduced Humanoid Robot by British Company: Performs Industrial Duties at Unprecedented Speed

UK-Based Robotics Company Unveils Fastest-Developed Industrial Humanoid Robot

In a groundbreaking development, UK-based robotics and AI company Humanoid has unveiled the HMND 01 Alpha, a new humanoid robot designed for industrial use. This rapid-development project, completed in just seven months, marks the fastest development of a humanoid robot in history.

Standing at nearly 87 inches (220 centimeters) tall, the HMND 01 Alpha boasts a reach that extends from floor level to two meters high, with shelf depths of up to 23.6 inches (60 centimeters). This design allows the robot to function effectively in tight spaces like factory floors and store aisles.

The robot is powered by NVIDIA's Jetson Thor platform, providing a robust "robotic brain" for autonomous operations. It can carry payloads of 33 lbs (15 kilograms) or more and can reach speeds of up to 4.4 miles (7.2 kilometers) per hour.

Artem Sokolov, the founder of Humanoid, stated that the UK offers a unique level of expertise for building world-class robotic systems. The company, which is based in London, has a strong team of about 170 world-class engineers, roboticists, and AI experts.

The HMND 01 Alpha features 29 active degrees of freedom, excluding its end-effectors, which can be fitted with either a 12-DOF five-fingered hand or a 1-DOF parallel gripper. The robot's head is fitted with 360-degree RGB cameras and dual depth sensors for comprehensive perception.

The Alpha prototype also incorporates NVIDIA's Isaac Sim and Cosmos synthetic data generation tools, enabling AI-driven, end-to-end reasoning. This feature allows the robot to perform complex tasks in logistics, retail, and manufacturing.

Humanoid, a year-old AI and robotics company, has already completed two real-world Proofs of Concept (POCs). The company's rapid progress and innovative technologies are set to revolutionise the industrial robotics sector.

This development underscores the UK's growing prowess in the AI and robotics field, with its strong talent pool in AI, engineering, and advanced manufacturing. The HMND 01 Alpha is poised to make a significant impact in the industrial sector, streamlining operations and enhancing productivity.
