Quantum Space Secures $40M, Acquires Propulsion Tech for National Security Missions

Quantum Space, a leading aerospace company, has secured $40 million in funding and is acquiring key technologies to bolster its national security capabilities and propulsion systems. The company aims to advance its Ranger spacecraft and expand its offerings for commercial and government missions.

In June, Quantum Space raised $40 million to shift its focus towards national security missions, including work on the Golden Dome missile defense system. The company is also acquiring propulsion technologies and facilities from Phase Four to accelerate the development and expansion of its propulsion systems and Ranger spacecraft.

Quantum Space is acquiring Phase Four's multi-mode propulsion technology and its integration and test facility in Southern California. This technology allows a thruster to operate both as a chemical thruster and as an electric thruster, making it highly versatile. Phase Four's Chief Executive Steve Kiser praised the partnership, stating that Quantum Space is the right partner to scale this capability in space.

Meanwhile, Apex has also acquired Hall Effect thruster technology from Phase Four as part of its latest $200 million funding round. This technology will be integrated into Apex's offerings, further advancing the industry.

Ranger spacecraft, designed by Quantum Space, can host up to 6,000 kilograms of customer payloads and provide at least 2.5 kilometers per second of delta-V, making them highly capable and adaptable.

With these acquisitions and funding, Quantum Space is well-positioned to advance its national security missions and propulsion systems. The company's partnership with Phase Four and Apex's acquisition of Hall Effect thruster technology signal a significant step forward in aerospace innovation.
