Fang Cheng Bao's New Hybrid SUV, the Tai 7, Unveiled
Fang Cheng Bao, the Chinese automobile manufacturer, has unveiled its latest offering – the Tai 7, a large hybrid SUV that marks the second model in their Tai series. Launched as a hybrid vehicle by sub-brand BYD, the Tai 7 is set to hit the markets in Q4 2025.
The Tai 7, designed for urban living, boasts impressive dimensions – 4,999 mm long, 1,995 mm wide, and 1,865 mm tall, with a wheelbase of 2,920 mm. This spacious interior promises a comfortable ride for passengers, making it an attractive option for urban drivers.
Powered by a plug-in hybrid system, the Tai 7 combines a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine producing 115 kW (154 hp) and electric motors. The front motor outputs 160 kW (215 hp), while the rear motor delivers a robust 200 kW (268 hp). The SUV comes in two all-wheel-drive (AWD) variants and one rear-wheel-drive (RWD) version.
The battery and range specifications are equally impressive. The AWD version sports a 35.6 kWh battery, offering up to 180 km electric-only range under the Chinese CLTC cycle. The RWD variant features a 26.6 kWh battery, providing around 135 km electric range. The combined total range (battery + full gasoline tank) exceeds 1,300 km, ensuring daily electric driving and long-distance flexibility.
Inside the Tai 7, a standard five-seater layout is complemented by a cockpit featuring a large central touchscreen and a four-spoke multifunction steering wheel. The interior design incorporates black surfaces accented with orange, creating a modern and stylish ambience.
The Tai 7 is equipped with the "God’s Eye" intelligent driving assistance system, available with or without a high-resolution LiDAR sensor. This advanced technology enhances vehicle perception, safety, and supports semi-autonomous driving for complex urban conditions.
Three curb weights have been reported for the Tai 7, reflecting different configurations or trim levels. The Tai 7 will cater to a wider range of urban driving needs, embodying Fang Cheng Bao's sporty DNA.
The Tai 7 made its regulatory filing debut on June 20, 2024, and higher-spec versions were added to the MIIT catalog on July 16. In the first half of 2024, Fang Cheng Bao sold a record 60,746 vehicles, marking a year-on-year increase of 232.25 percent.
