In North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW), Sonja Bongers, the chairperson of the SPD city council faction and a member of the NRW state parliament, has criticized the AfD's initiative regarding the shortage of specialists in the justice system. Bongers described the AfD's approach as unpredictable and misleading, stating that their efforts do not adequately address the actual problems within the justice system.

The SPD faction's call for action pertains to the justice system in NRW. In response to the shortage of specialists, the SPD has advocated for making jobs in the justice system more attractive. Their forward-looking personnel policy includes fair pay, the use of artificial intelligence, flexible work time models, and attracting talent for various roles in the justice system.

Bongers took a stance against the AfD's attempts to use the issue of cannabis legalization to stir fear or divert attention from real challenges. She emphasized that focusing on cannabis legalization is not a constructive way to solve the shortage of qualified personnel in judicial roles.

The AfD has requested a current hour in the house, using an open letter from the Association of Judges and Prosecutors in NRW. However, Bongers criticized the AfD for presenting a transitional situation as a permanent problem. She considered the AfD's actions as dishonest and unfair.

Bongers assured Minister Limbach that the SPD faction will support courageous steps taken to improve the justice system. The SPD faction's appeal is not limited to their own faction but includes all Democrats in the house. Bongers emphasized that taking these steps collectively is necessary to ensure a functioning rule of law.

Bongers also assured that the legalization of cannabis will not bring the justice system to its knees. The SPD faction's call for action does not specifically mention the use of artificial intelligence, flexible work time models, or attracting talent for various roles in the justice system, as these were previously mentioned as part of their forward-looking personnel policy.

The SPD faction's call for action does not criticize the AfD or any other political party, focusing instead on the need for action to improve the justice system. Bongers urged the state government to show courage in improving the equipment and general overhaul of the justice system.
