Preparing for the debut of a foldable smartphone, according to rumors regarding Apple

After years of rumours and speculation, it appears that Apple is finally ready to join the foldable phone market. According to reports, the production of the much-anticipated iPhone Fold is currently underway in Taiwan and India.

The iPhone Fold has been teased for quite some time, with many expecting Apple to bring a foldable device to market. However, it seems that Samsung may beat Apple to the punch next year, as they are expected to launch their own foldable phone before Apple.

Apple is reportedly preparing to launch the iPhone Fold next year, as part of their strategy to lessen the impacts of tariffs for American consumers. The company has been increasing production in India in an effort to reduce costs and improve accessibility for consumers.

The iPhone Fold's production is not the only focus of Apple's plans for next year. The base model of the iPhone 17 range has received a series of upgrades, and the iPhone 18 range is expected to see a significant sales increase compared to the iPhone 17 range.

The iPhone 18 range is expected to have an uptick in sales across all models, not just the Fold. This is partly due to the delay in the launch of the base model of the iPhone 18 range, which could be a result of the preparation for the iPhone Fold's launch.

Apple is anticipating to shift a total of 95 million units of the iPhone 18 range, which is an increase of 10 million from the iPhone 17 range. This ambitious sales target is partly attributed to the expected success of the iPhone Fold, which is expected to be a significant addition to Apple's product line.

The folding device is currently in trial production in Taiwan, with plans to reproduce the production line in India. The report about the uptick in Apple's supply chain purchasing was shared by 9to5Mac. Nikkei also reported about an uptick in Apple's supply chain purchasing next year, which is partly attributed to the iPhone Fold.

Some people view Apple's lack of entry into the foldable phone space as a significant concern, while others support the 'best, not first' approach. Regardless of opinion, it seems that Apple is ready to make a splash in the foldable phone market with the iPhone Fold.

The iPhone 17 range was recently unveiled by Apple, with the Pro models seeing a redesign. However, it appears that the focus is already shifting to the iPhone Fold and the iPhone 18 range. With the iPhone Fold set to launch next year, it will be interesting to see how it compares to Samsung's offering and whether it lives up to the hype.
