It's full steam ahead in Krasnoyarsk Krai as they kick-start the selection of new projects for their Science and Technology Development program. Four fresh expert groups consisting of big industry honchos, RAN scientists, and local university heads will take the helm.

As per the directive from Governor Michail Kotyukov, who, by the way, chairs the commission for Technological Leadership in the State Council, the Krasnoyarsk Krai program will team up closely with industry and the scientific community to ensure a practical, hands-on approach.

By the end of December 2024, a plan has been approved for the development of the region in four strategic areas of technological leadership: production and automation, new materials and chemistry, industrial transport mobility, and new energy technologies.

Currently, around 40 research and development, production, and experimental projects are up and running. Some examples include digitalizing mining and manufacturing, research on rare-earth metals, battery production, creating rotor-controlled drilling systems, advanced waste management techniques, innovations in molecular engineering and biomedicine.

These expert groups will scrutinize the scientific merit, profitability, and alignment with Krasnoyarsk Krai's economic needs of these new projects to select the most effective proposals.

Minister of Industry and Trade in the region, Maxim Yermakov, commented, "We'll keep collaborating with businesses to set technology development plans and monitor current programs. Projects fitting the criteria of the Science and Technology Development Program may secure support on both regional and federal levels."

Remember that Krasnoyarsk Krai was one of the 20 pilot regions chosen to develop their Science and Technology Development programs. By 2030, research and development expenditures are expected to comprise 2% of the GDP, and employment in high-tech sectors should increase by 25%.

In line with the Krasnoyarsk Krai's Tech Push towards 2030, these new projects under the Science and Technology Development program will be evaluated based on their scientific merit, profitability, and relevance to the region's economic needs. The selected proposals will contribute to the advancement of production and automation, new materials and chemistry, industrial transport mobility, and new energy technologies, aligning with the four strategic directions of the program.

In Siberia's Krasnoyarsk region, the selection of new projects for the scientific-technological development program up until 2030 has commenced. Four newly formed expert groups, including leaders of large enterprises, Russian Academy of Sciences scientists, and academics from Krasnoyarsk universities, will handle this task.
