Pre-orders for the Apple iPhone 17 series surpass the previous year's models, with the Pro Max variant continuing to lead in sales.
The highly anticipated iPhone 17 series, launched on September 9, has seen massive demand in India and China, with preorders surpassing expectations. According to Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the first-weekend preorder demand for the iPhone 17 series outpaced last year's iPhone 16 lineup.
In China, preorders for the iPhone 17 series broke records within minutes, with sales on retailer JD.com crossing the first-day preorder numbers of the iPhone 16 series in just one minute. The most popular model was the iPhone 17 base version with 256 GB storage, favored for its balance of price and new features. Interestingly, in China, the base iPhone 17 led sales, while the iPhone 17 Pro Max, the global bestseller, saw significantly higher production.
India has also experienced a surge in demand for the iPhone 17 series. Preorders have been robust, with walk-in buyers struggling to get their preferred models due to limited initial stock. Delivery times for the iPhone 17 Pro Max remain similar despite increased production. However, many customers who pre-booked their devices are facing delays in delivery.

Commenting on the situation, Jha said, "The iPhone 17 series launch has been a resounding success, with India and China leading the way in demand. The balance of price and new features in the base model seems to be resonating with consumers, while the iPhone 17 Pro Max continues to be a global favourite."
Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo predicts that the iPhone 17's record preorders will give Apple a boost in its Q3 2025 results. In addition to the news about the iPhone 17 series, the Flipkart Big Billion Days sale 2025 offers for Motorola Edge 60 Pro, Edge 60 Fusion, and Razr 60 have also been revealed.
As the iPhone 17 series continues to dominate headlines, it's clear that Apple's latest offering has struck a chord with consumers worldwide. The demand for the iPhone 17 series in India and China is a testament to its appeal and the anticipation that surrounds each new iPhone release.
