Taipower's Phase II Offshore Substation Installed in Taiwan

As of August 2025, the installation of the Taipower TPC Phase II offshore substation has been completed at a site in Taiwan. The offshore substation, built at the PetroVietnam Shipyard in Vung Tau, Vietnam, was transported to Taiwan and installed at its location by Shinfox Far East Energy's SFE Hercules.

The TPC Phase II offshore substation is part of the Taipower TPC Phase II project, one of eleven projects selected by the Taiwanese government in April 2018. Foxwell Energy, an affiliate of Shinfox, secured the development contract from Taipower to build and operate the wind farm for the TPC Phase II project.

The installation process began with the first jacket foundation for the TPC Offshore Phase II being installed in March 2025. The launching ceremony for the offshore substation was held at the PetroVietnam Shipyard construction yard in Vung Tau last month. The topside, which was also built at the PetroVietnam Shipyard, was installed at the site in July.

The TPC Phase II offshore substation plays a crucial role in connecting offshore wind farms to the mainland grid, as Taipower continues to expand its offshore wind power infrastructure. These large infrastructure projects typically follow multi-year schedules, including design, fabrication, offshore installation, and commissioning phases.

For accurate and up-to-date timeline information on the installation of Taipower's Phase II Offshore Substation, it is best to consult official Taipower announcements or press releases, updates from Taiwan's Ministry of Economic Affairs or Bureau of Energy, or industry news platforms focused on Taiwan's offshore wind sector.
