Porsche Warns: Wheels Could Fall Off 718 and 911 Models

Porsche has issued a serious warning for owners of certain 718 and 911 models. The German automaker has identified a risk of wheels falling off due to faulty bolts. Owners are urged not to drive these vehicles until the issue is resolved.

The problem stems from center lock wheel bolts that do not meet the correct specification. This can cause the bolts to fracture, leading to a loss of steering control or even wheel detachment. Porsche has identified 1,851 affected cars in the U.S., all from the 2024 model year.

The affected models include the 718 Cayman GT4 RS, 718 Spyder RS, and certain 911 models. Porsche first became aware of incidents related to the issue in September and is still determining the cause. The remedy involves dealers checking and replacing out-of-specification bolts.

Porsche has not yet determined the full extent of the issue. Owners of affected cars should not drive their vehicles until the problem is fixed. Porsche dealers will check and replace the bolts free of charge. The company is working to resolve the issue as quickly as possible.
