Porsche Macan Accelerates into Second Generation of Electric Power
The new generation of Porsche's popular Macan SUV is making waves in the automotive industry with its impressive features and innovative technology.
Starting with its power, the new Macan offers up to 470 kW (639 hp), providing a thrilling driving experience. This electric powerhouse can charge from ten to 80 percent in just 21 minutes at a suitable fast charging station, thanks to its 800 volt architecture based on the Premium Platform Electric (PPE).
The new Macan boasts a more spacious interior, with the driver and front passenger sitting 28 millimeters lower and the rear passengers 15 millimeters lower than before, providing increased legroom. The rear seat backrest can be folded down to increase the cargo space volume to a massive 1,348 liters. In addition, there's an additional cargo space, known as the Frunk, under the front hood, offering 84 liters.
The new Macan's design is as striking as its performance. It features a sporty, dominant appearance with sharpened proportions and coupe-like lines, giving it a sleek and modern look. The new Macan is also one of the most streamlined SUVs, with an air resistance coefficient of 0.25.
But the new Macan isn't just about speed and style. It's also about sustainability. The new Macan is the first Macan to be produced in a carbon-neutral manner at the Porsche plant in Leipzig, where its production is managed by Porsche Leipzig GmbH. The plant, which has been producing the Macan since 2014, integrates the fully electric Macan into its existing production lines with a fundamentally redesigned process.
The new Macan also offers advanced technology such as a head-up display with augmented reality technology and an infotainment system that uses Android Automotive OS as the operating system. For improved range, Porsche Active Aerodynamics (PAA) with active and passive elements are used in the new Macan.
Moreover, the new Macan comes with optional rear-axle steering with a maximum steering angle of five degrees, providing enhanced handling and manoeuvrability. The new Macan also has a maximum trailer load of 2,000 kilograms, making it a versatile choice for those who need extra carrying capacity.
In terms of range, the electric range of the new Macan varies from 516 to 613 km (WLTP), providing ample distance for daily commutes and longer trips.
The new Macan is entering its second model generation as a fully electric SUV, demonstrating Porsche's commitment to sustainable and innovative automotive technology. With its impressive performance, spacious interior, and advanced technology, the new Macan is set to redefine the SUV category.
