Polestar Unveils Digital Rearview Mirror for Polestar 4
Polestar has unveiled a novel digital rearview mirror for its upcoming Polestar 4 model. This innovation replaces the traditional mirror, offering enhanced driver visibility and passenger comfort. The mirror uses a 2.5-megapixel camera with a 121-degree field of view, transmitting real-time images to an 8.9-inch HD display in the cabin.
The Polestar 4's digital rearview mirror not only improves safety but also enhances passenger experience. Ola Aldensjö, the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of Polestar, describes the backseat experience as 'business class meets comfort lounge'.
The mirror's camera provides a wider field of view than traditional mirrors, allowing drivers to see more of their surroundings. This is particularly useful in poor lighting or rain conditions, improving driver visibility. Additionally, the digital mirror frees up space in the back of the car, contributing to increased passenger comfort.
This automotive innovation is a departure from the traditional rearview mirror, which has remained largely unchanged for over a century. Polestar's digital mirror can toggle between an HD display and a traditional mirror, offering drivers the best of both worlds.
Polestar's digital rearview mirror, set to debut in the Polestar 4, combines improved safety and increased passenger comfort. By providing a wider field of view and freeing up cabin space, this innovation enhances the overall driving and passenger experience. The mirror's ability to switch between an HD display and a traditional mirror offers drivers flexibility and convenience.
