Plug-in Hybrid Version of Skoda Kodiaq Tops Sales Chart, Dual-Power Setup In Demand

The reimagined Skoda Kodiaq Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV) marks a new chapter for the highly successful SUV model, boasting a dual-electric power system that significantly enhances performance, efficiency, and electric driving capability.

Record-breaking electric range

The latest Kodiaq PHEV houses a significantly larger 25.7 kWh battery, providing an official electric range of up to 36 kWh for daily commutes and short trips. In real-life conditions, drivers can expect around 50-60 miles on electric power alone. This extended electric range sets the Kodiaq PHEV apart from competitors like the Peugeot 5008 PHEV, which offers only about 48 miles of electric range.

Boosted performance and efficiency

The plug-in hybrid powertrain teams a 1.5-liter turbocharged petrol engine with an electric motor, producing a combined output of 201 bhp. The Kodiaq PHEV delivers spirited acceleration, clocking in at zero to 100 kph in approximately 7.6 seconds while maintaining an environmentally conscious focus.

Modern charging technology

In addition to longer electric driving capacity, the new model supports fast DC charging at up to 50 kW. This swift charging capability enables users to maximize their electric-only driving and minimize reliance on the combustion engine.

Advanced hybrid system

Adopting the second-generation MQB platform hybrid system, the Kodiaq PHEV showcases a more refined integration between the petrol engine, electric motor, and a six-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. This advanced hybrid system ensures smooth power delivery and improved fuel efficiency compared to its predecessor.

Practicality and interior accommodations

While the improved battery allows for only five seats due to its placement under the rear floor, the Kodiaq PHEV retains its spacious cabin with a well-crafted, high-end interior.

With lower CO2 emissions and superior fuel economy, the Kodiaq PHEV caters to family and company car buyers seeking environmentally friendly, cost-effective vehicles in urban and suburban environments conducive to electric-only driving.
