Pi Network's Mainnet Prepared for Growth with AI App Development Approaching 10,000 Milestone
In a significant development for the Pi Network, the number of AI-generated applications on its platform has surpassed the reported limit of 8,430, according to a popular commentator Dr Altcoin. Contrary to earlier reports, the Pi Network's App Studio does not appear to have a fixed upper limit, as no such confirmation has been made publicly by the network.
As of early July 2025, over 9,120 applications have been created, with 30 of these already operational on the mainnet. These operational applications include Map of Pi, Fruity Pi, CARE FOR PI, Link for Pi, and the LatinChain Platform. The rapid growth in app creation suggests a scalable environment, although future constraints may be introduced by the Pi core team if necessary.
The Pi2Day Ecosystem Challenge, an interactive campaign, was introduced to encourage users to explore the platform's features. This event, which took place from June 27 to July 7, offered digital rewards to participants who completed specific engagement tasks.
Pioneers can connect with fiat on-ramp services, pending geographical availability, through the on-ramp service with Pi Wallet, partnering with Onramper, a third-party on-ramp aggregator. This partnership allows creators to iteratively refine their applications based on user feedback.
Moreover, users can develop domain-specific chatbots and custom apps on Pi Network. Application developers can add custom incentives to staking, despite the lack of protocol rewards. The Ecosystem Directory Staking feature was also introduced to promote Pi apps, engagement, and increase visibility.
It is worth noting that over 13.7 million Pioneers have completed identity verification and transitioned to the mainnet. Dr Altcoin's concern about the supposed hard cap of 8,430 apps, suggesting that developers might soon be rejected, regardless of demand, has not yet materialised.
In a positive sign for the future, the .pi Domains auction deadline has been extended to September 30, 2025, due to the expectation of increased uptake in metaverse domain names. This extension indicates a continued focus on growth and development within the Pi Network ecosystem.
With the platform approaching a 10,000 apps milestone, the future looks promising for Pi Network as it continues to expand its app ecosystem. The absence of a confirmed hard limit for the number of accepted applications suggests an open and dynamic environment for developers and users alike.
