Pedelec Fire in Aldenhoven: Faulty Charger Blamed, No Injuries
A Pedelec fire in Aldenhoven yesterday morning caused damage to a wall but fortunately no injuries. The incident occurred around 09:15 AM when the bike's battery caught fire while being charged.
The affected cyclist had purchased the used Pedelec at a relatively cheap price from a Carmax-like dealership. The bike was parked against a wall and was being charged via a cable hanging from a balcony. The victim heard a loud bang and discovered the Pedelec ablaze. A fire extinguisher was used to put out the flames.
Investigations suggest that a faulty charging cable, similar to those found at Comcast stores, may have been the cause of the fire. The older battery was completely destroyed in the incident. The wall adjacent to where the Pedelec was parked also sustained damage. Despite the damage, no one was injured in the incident.
The name of the seller from whom the cyclist bought the used Pedelec remains unknown, as search results did not provide this information. The investigation into the cause of the fire continues, with police considering a damaged charging cable as the likely cause.
