Passengers will now have more control over their ride experience with Lyft's innovative new feature, allowing them to set the mood of their journey.

Lyft, the popular ride-sharing service, has announced a series of new features aimed at improving the safety and user experience for both passengers and drivers. The wider-scale launch of these new features will take place by the end of August, covering the US and Canada.

One of the key new features is the ability for riders to favorite their drivers. This feature, which is the first of its kind in ride-sharing apps, allows passengers to mark a driver as a favourite after a ride if they're pleased with their experience. Favorited drivers will have priority access to that rider's future scheduled ride requests, offering additional earning opportunities for drivers.

To ensure transparency, blocked drivers will show up in the Safety Hub, a new feature in the Lyft app. This feature is designed to provide riders with more control over their ride experience and allows them to block drivers if necessary.

Lyft's commitment to safety is evident in these new features, as they prioritize connecting riders with their favourite drivers whenever possible. The new features are part of Lyft's ongoing efforts to build relationships with the passengers they meet daily.

Meanwhile, Uber has introduced "Women's Preferences", a feature that will allow women riders and drivers to only be connected with other women for their trips. This feature is designed to provide an added layer of comfort and safety for women users. The pilot program for Uber's "Women's Preferences" will begin in Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Detroit.

The Safety Hub in the Lyft app will also allow riders to set up safety features such as audio recording, PIN Verification, location sharing, and more. These measures are intended to offer riders peace of mind during their journeys.

As both companies continue to innovate and improve their services, these new features are set to roll out in updates in the coming weeks. The ride-sharing landscape is constantly evolving, and these new offerings from Lyft and Uber are a testament to their commitment to enhancing the user experience and prioritizing safety.
