Olympia unveils the e-bike prototype, the Eros, powered by DJI Avinox motor; however, there are certain aspects of this design that do not fully win me over.
The Italian brand Olympia has unveiled its latest creation, the Eros, a long-travel enduro e-bike that stands out from the crowd. At the heart of this innovative machine is DJI's Avinox motor system, which brings together advanced performance, connectivity, and design elements that set it apart from other DJI-equipped e-bikes.
The DJI Avinox motor delivers a powerful 1000W peak power and a torque of 120Nm, all while maintaining a lightweight build of around 2.5 kg. This remarkable combination offers a natural and progressive pedaling feel, making it easier to conquer steep trails and ensuring a quiet downhill ride.
The Eros is equipped with high-capacity batteries, typically 600Wh or 800Wh, and comes with an ultra-fast charger that can recharge the battery to 75% in just 1.5 hours. This impressive range and quick top-up support longer rides, setting it apart from other e-bike powertrains.
The DJI Avinox system also integrates a touchscreen display, often situated in the top tube, that displays critical ride data such as speed, mode, battery life, torque, and cadence. Advanced sensors like GPS, barometer, compass, and features such as a theft alarm system, 4G connection, and USB-C charging port are also included, providing riders with more intelligence and control than many other e-bike systems.
Intelligent functions like Walk Assist, Auto Hold, and Hill Start Assist add to the bike’s user-friendliness and off-road handling. The Eros also boasts a distinctive design, with a four-bar linkage where the shock is mounted along the top side of the down tube and driven by a swing-link.
The Olympia Eros is based on the brand's existing Murdok model, but with a replacement of the Polini motor with the DJI Avinox drive unit. The carbon frame of the Eros is constructed with Toray T800 fibres and uses an EPS internal mould. The bike features a 157mm Super Boost back end, as pioneered by Pivot Cycles, and hints of Mondraker Crafty design.
The Eros will offer the option to choose either full 29in wheels or an MX set-up. Sizing information is not yet available, but it is likely to come in three sizes, S/M, M/L, and L/XL, with reach measurements of 442mm, 467mm, and 496mm respectively (using the Murdok as a rough guide).
The Olympia Eros was showcased at the bike industry's biggest trade show, Eurobike, alongside new kit for 2026. With its unique features and cutting-edge technology, the Olympia Eros is set to redefine the e-bike market.
