Nvidia Prototype RTX 5090 Displayed: Boasts Four 16-pin Power Ports and Extra VRMs

Chilling News about Nvidia's Mystery RTX 5090!

Whispers of the RTX 5090's chonky, power-packed prototype have hit the grapevine, and guess who's stirring the pot? None other than the suspicious X user @yuuki_ans, streaking the interwebs with an intriguing snap of the alleged bad boy!

The heavily Guardians-of-the-Galaxy-esque design boasts a whopping FOUR 16-pin power connectors, some even say it's a potential late-night snack for a hungry power strip.

Some reckon these beefy connectors are for added safety – kind of like having an extra parachute for backup. You know, in case one connector decides to act up in the middle of a gaming sesh and turn your rig into a lemon.

Others believe the multi-connector setup is to ensure even power distribution, keeping excessive heat at bay and preventing our handsome GPU from overheating like a greased-up ham on a spit.

Keen eyes have spotted that these four connectors are capable of drawing a monstrous 2,400W – roughly the same as running TWO space heaters non-stop. Holy moly, that's quite the mouthful of juice for a single component!

With just one high-powered GPU hogging 2,400W, the average gaming PC might cower in the corner like a quacking duck. This isn't exactly the kind of hardware that'll be hogging bandwidth on your home Wi-Fi, no sir-ee.

Instead, our meaty monster here would likely target niche markets like AI, High-Performance Computing (HPC), or CG/VFX simulations, like the digital warrior it's destined to be.

Rumor has it that there are additional connectors scattered around the PCB like Easter eggs, including fan headers, USB slots, and some fancy diagnostic pins. If that wasn't enough, there's even a fifth video output port hanging out – just for good measure, I guess.

Furthermore, some folks suspect this might not even be the final version. Sure, the memory modules look like the usual RTX 5090, but what's stuck behind our eight-legger? Some say it could be an early production run for something even more jaw-dropping, like a 5090 Ti or even the insidious RTX PRO 6000 Blackwell series.

Flashback to January, when we caught wind of another RTX 5090 prototype leak. This one flaunted dual 16-pin (12V-2×6) power connectors, rocking a reported TDP of an eye-popping 800W – that's over 39% more than the standard RTX 5090. Fancy pants memory modules and extra juice aside, this prototype reeled in higher CUDA core counts and clock speeds, not to mention 32GB of GDDR7 memory on a 512-bit interface. Mind. Blown.

In a sneaky behind-the-scenes video from Nvidia, they briefly graced us with an eyeful of an early prototype of the RTX 5090 Founders Edition. This dude was an absolute behemoth, boasting a quad-slot design with a vertical PCB and three Queen-of-Sheba-sized fans. The 'three-thirds flow-through' cooling architecture had this GPU packing on the pounds so much that Nvidia wisely decided to sack the idea, rather than burden us with the largest Founders Edition graphics card ever.

Stay tuned for more updates as this pulsating story unfolds. Stay frosty, folks!
